- EAGLES SIGN FIVE DRAFT PICKS, INCLUDING TE ZACH ERTZ, ON THE EVE OF ROOKIE MINICAMP - The Philadelphia Eagles signed five of their eight draft picks on Thursday including second-round selection Zach Ertz (tight end), the team’s official website reports.
Also signing a day before rookie minicamp starts were fifth-round pick Earl Wolff (safety) and seventh-round selections Joe Kruger (defensive end), Jordan Poyer (cornerback) and David King (defensive end).
Ertz became the highest selected tight end (34th overall) by the Eagles since they took Keith Jackson 13th overall in 1988. His 898 receiving yards led all Stanford receivers and all FBS tight ends in 2012.
Wolff is NC State’s all-time leader in games played (51) and starts (43). He totaled 211 solo tackles and is third on the school list with eight forced fumbles.
Kruger appeared in 37 of 38 games at Utah, recording 69 tackles, nine sacks, 14 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and an interception. He is the brother of Cleveland Browns linebacker Paul Kruger.
Poyer tied for second in the country with seven interceptions last season at Oregon St. and added 51 tackles and two sacks in 12 games.
King started 21 games for Alabama. He earned the team’s Don Key Award for the senior who exemplifies excellence on the field and in the classroom. (Photo: Associated Press)
